Tecnica de los brazos {Basic arms with direction change}

FLAMENCO DANCER DEMONSTRATES BASIC FLAMENCO ARM WITH DIRECTION CHANGE OF THE UPPER BODY.
BRAZOSCONSPIRAL.jpg

So far I have only shown you flamenco arms with the body in a square position, that is with both shoulders and hips facing forward and the trunk of the body in a neutral vertical position. This exercises introduces a spiral of the body starting at the waist.

Here are the important things to remember when doing this exercise.

  • the hips remain facing forward while the upper body rotates.
  • the rotation of the upper body starts from the waist (not from the hips or legs below).
  • the shoulders are level and not tilted towards the direction of rotation.
  • the arms are curved (always) and the elbows are lifted.

When you first start you don't need to rotate very far, you should be aiming to separate the upper body and the hips with the rotation. As soon as you feel your hips start to move, stop and move to the other side. You will gain more mobility as you practice.
